On 17 and 18 November The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam will host the Hanoi Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade, an international conference that will bring together global leaders to help eradicate illegal wildlife trade and better protect wild species from the threat of extinction.
Environmental threats do not respect national borders. Governments have realized that to avert this danger they must notify and consult each other on all major projects under consideration that might have adverse environmental impact across borders. The ESPOO Convention is a key step to bringing together all stakeholders to prevent environmental damage before it occurs. The Convention entered into force in 1997.
The World Economic Forum is a foundation based in Cologny, Geneva (Switzerland). It is mainly known for the annual meeting in Davos where leading economists, politicians, journalists and experts meet to discuss global questions such as economic development, health and environment.
Manipal University is organising a thematic seminar series on “Environmental Security in India” in November 2016, under the auspices of the Climate Diplomacy initiative supported by the German Federal Foreign Office. As a part of the ongoing efforts to build the University’s research and development base in environmental studies and climate change, it seeks to establish synergies between fundamental research in natural (physical) sciences, engineering, security and policy, especially in the environmental and climate policy domains.
From 7-18 November 2016, adelphi’s experts on climate diplomacy, climate resilience, local climate action, and more, were in Marrakech for the COP22 discussions and key side-events. In cooperation with the EU, the German Federal Foreign Office, NEPAD and other partners, adelphi convened and was involved in several side-events on climate diplomacy:
The exhibition “Environment, Conflict and Cooperation” (ECC) will be shown in Beijing starting from 18 September 2016.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited leaders from all countries to attend a special event on 21 September to deposit their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession to the Paris Agreement on climate change. The event will also provide an opportunity to other countries to publicly commit to joining or ratifying the agreement before the end of 2016.
"The aim of the conference is to identify and share practical, evidence-based solutions that can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s conference theme is Moving Forward: The SDGs in Practice. The ICSD provides a unique opportunity to bring together stakeholders from government, academia, the United Nations, international agencies, NGOs, and grassroots organizers to share practical solutions towards the achievement of more sustainable and inclusive societies."

Climate Week NYC is an annual event which is convened by The Climate Group. It brings together influential business and government leaders who are leading the low carbon transition. There will be events, activities and high-profile meetings across NYC, as well as other climate events in support of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement.

After EU Climate Diplomacy Days in 2014 and 2015, this year the EU is dedicating a whole week to this issue. Missions from the EU and its Member States around the world will participate in reaching out to communities and organisations, highlighting positive global action on climate change.
